This weekend marks the tenth anniversary of the Arab Reform and Democracy program at the Freeman Spogli Institute at Stanford University. The Hicham Alaoui Foundation established this initiative in 2009 with the aim of catalyzing innovative research and promoting critical thinking on political reform and change in the Middle East.
A decade later, we are all proud to have been involved in such a productive undertaking that today continues to pose crucial questions and present innovative ideas about the future of Arab democracy.
This conference features thematic panels about new trends in popular activism, renewed uprisings and transitions, dynasticism and the dynamics of royal decision-making in the Gulf, social conflicts, and the international dimensions of regional politics.
